Laura Havlish

Hello, my name is Laura. I’m an artist and freelance illustrator based in Philadelphia, PA. I make nature and animal illustrations for stationary and surface design.

My background is in fine art, I have a BFA degree in Painting from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. Most of my early art endeavors were based in abstract painting, I loved mark making and exploring color and collage. My interests began to shift toward nature illustration when I began teaching my young daughter about the plants and animals that we saw while hiking, I have always enjoyed learning about all of the different plants and animals in my landscape. As a child, I would spend hours wandering through our meadow, looking for insects and flowers to identify with my field guide. Now I enjoy hiking through the woods or through the city, looking for wildlife to photograph and sketch.

Check out my 100 day drawing project on Instagram! For 100 days in 2024, I drew various animals that live in and around Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
